OLD people needing a health or social care service will soon be able to have one overall assessment.

This will be instead of them being asked the same questions by staff from different organisations.

Health and social care staff in Kirklees will work closer together to provide the assessments.

Clr Dennis Hullock, the council Cabinet member responsible for health and social care, said: "I know how frustrating it is for people when they are asked the same questions over and over again by different agencies.

"The single assessment demonstrates that partnership between health and social services is the key to providing an effective service, able to respond to people's need at what is often a difficult time in their lives."

The single assessment is a national development from the Government's Department of Health.
