INJURED Huddersfield rugby league player Danny Scott will share in a five- figure sum raised by a 210-mile cycle ride.

Big-hearted fan Chris Hawkins, 39, made his solo trip from London to Leeds Rhinos' Headingley stadium inside 24 hours.

It was in aid of 23-year-old Danny and Matt King, 17, who both suffered serious spinal injuries on the rugby field.

Danny, from Marsh, played for amateur side Moldgreen while Matt was making his mark in the London Broncos Academy team.

Chris, from Oldham, said: "They have had their lives changed beyond all recognition and will need specialist care for years to come.

"They can never have too much help from us all."

Chris arrived in time for the Rhinos v Broncos Super League game at Headingley on Friday.

LHF Healthplan, the sponsors of the National League, was one of the first organisations to get behind Chris's appeal with a four-figure gift to get things moving.

Meanwhile, Danny is back in Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, for an operation.
