A CYCLIST in his 60s is fighting for his life in hospital after he hit a cat near Almondbury this morning.


The incident happened at around 9.09am in Somerset Road, at the junction near Fox Glove Avenue.


Police cordoned off the road shortly after the incident which caused delays in the area.


A police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 9.09am after a male pedal cyclist in his 60s hit a cat. No vehicles were involved.


“The cyclist suffered serious head injuries a broken pelvis and ribs and is in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary."
