A cyclist has been flown to hospital after suffering a head injury in an accident.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, was hurt in the accident on Huddersfield Road, between New Mill village and Kirk Bridge Lane, at around 2.20pm today.

It is unclear if the rider was involved in a crash with another vehicle or had fallen off his bike.

Police closed the stretch of Huddersfield Road so the Yorkshire Air Ambulance could land and take the cyclist to Leeds General Infirmary.

It is not yet known how seriously hurt the cyclist is.
