CYCLISTS marked the 80th anniversary of a Huddersfield club.

It was back in1928 that Huddersfield Cyclists' Touring Club, the CTC, became a separate section in the Mid Yorkshire District Association, and on the April 14 that year the club held its first ride.

Exactly 80 years later, today’s riders met at the Post Office on Northumberland Street and rode to Hollingworth Lake via the Roman road.

It was a re-run of the very first ride. Coffee was at Hebden Bridge and the route was then though Todmorden and Summit to Littleborough.

The riders were met by members of the Halifax CTC Section for lunch at Hollingworth Lake Information Centre before the ride back over Blackstone Edge and Ripponden Bank and Pole Moor to Marsden for a celebratory buffet at the Tunnel End Pub. The event was organised by secretary Ken Roberts and the cake cut and souvenir badges handed out by chairman John Radford.
