A man breached his community order because his illness left him anxious about leaving the house, a court heard.
Dale Laycock, 22, was sentenced to a 12-month community order in September for an assault.
The order included attendance at activity sessions including one focusing on safer relationships.
But Laycock, of Sackville Street in Dewsbury , failed to show up for one of these on February 26.
Kirklees magistrates were told that out of a possible 17 appointments, Laycock had attended only seven.
They heard that he suffers from anxiety, depression and agoraphobia, which is a fear of busy places.
A Probation officer said that he planned to write to Laycock’s doctor to see if he can complete the order.
Mike Sisson-Pell, mitigating, said: “It’s essential that the doctor’s opinion is sought.
“This young man has a long-standing problem, he spends a lot of time in his bedroom.
“If he if has to go out he struggles and can’t deal with group work which is a large part of the order.”
Magistrates adjourned Laycock’s case until May 20.
