FAMILIES enjoyed fun in the sun at Dalton Carnival yesterday.
The carnival was held at the Dram Centre at Ridgeway, Rawthorpe.
It was opened by Huddersfield Giants rugby league stars Eorl Crabtree and Andy Raleigh, along with team mascot Big G.
The event started with prayers and community hymns led by the Rev Ron Pollard, from Dalton Baptist Church.
Then the fun began, with activities including fairground attractions, an under-eights rugby match, cheerleading displays, a fancy dress contest, entertainment from a gospel choir and a dance troupe and face painting.
There were also displays by the police, fire and St John Ambulance services and stalls run by community groups.
About 1,000 people attended the event, which was organised by Dalton Communities Group.
