TEENAGE sweethearts Dee and Mick Cobbett celebrated their 65th birthdays and 45th wedding anniversary by thinking only of others.
The couple, who live in Dalton, decided to commemorate their big day by raising money for Kirkwood Hospice – a charity close to their hearts.
Dee, who is part of the Kirkwood Hospice support group, said: “We had a great night. We organised punk rock band The Age of Paranoia to play at The Ashfield Club in Lepton.
“We like country and western but we thought we’d do something different. Some had never heard punk live before but they seemed to like it.’’
She added: “Friends and family paid to come to the event and alongside a raffle we managed to raise £1,000.
“I have helped raise money for them for 20 years and I know they are a needy cause.”
The rocking couple met when they were 15 at an Italian Cafe in Birkby and have a 42-year-old son, Nigel.
The couple will also be having a family do at home.
