THEY met at the former Charlie Frost dance school in Huddersfield.

And now Ronnie and Patricia Edwards, of Dalton, are celebrating their golden wedding after a marriage based on “love and respect”.

Mr Edwards, 72, left Stile Common School aged 15 and started work in the textile industry.

He worked in mills in Firth Street and Holmbridge before switching to engineering.

He worked at Brook Motors, Hopkinsons and David Brown Gears, staying at the latter firm for 34 years.

Mrs Edwards, 70, attended Beaumont Street School and Rawthorpe Senior School before starting work as a worsted mender in Bradley Mills.

The couple were married at St Andrew’s Church in Leeds Road and went on to have two daughters and three grandchildren.

The couple both enjoy walking and gardening and celebrated their anniversary with a holiday in Guernsey.
