A SHOPLIFTER has denied racially assaulting a Lidl security guard.
Malcolm Gill, 44, of Longfield Avenue, Dalton, appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday and admitted stealing £39 worth of meat from the store.
The court heard the theft happened on November 15 when Gill had entered the store and removed three joints of meat.
He was challenged by the security guard and it is alleged he used aggravating language with a threat of unlawful violence.
Gill denies this charge.
The case was listed for trial at Kirklees Magistrates Court on February 2 at 2pm.
