Stars of the future dazzled many at a Huddersfield school.

Youngsters at Dalton School staged their own extravaganza along the lines of hit TV show Britain’s Got Talent.

And while Simon Cowell may not have made it, there were enough stars on show to delight the audience.

Pupils danced, sang and acted their way into the hearts of their audience at a tough early morning contest, called Breakfast Club’s Got Talent.

The club had the hard job of whittling down 40 acts to just 10 to take part in the finale, who showcased the breadth of talent at the school.

And after another difficult round of decisions Ruby Beaumont, 9, was crowned winner for her freestyle dance.

Dance group Tykera Simpson 10, Karys Allette 10, Jazmin Summers 10 and Nevaeh McKay 10 leapt into second place and Shantaya Simpson, 8, came third for her singing.

Children brought in donations for the event and raised around £160.

The Huddersfield Town Foundation provides 500 free breakfasts to the school each week. It is one of many schools across the Kirkeles area to benefit from the football club initiative.

Tom Farrell, who delivers the food, was one of the judges along with Julie Imrie, the school’s inclusion manager and pupils Rachel Bevan and Samuel Cole.

Ian Richardson, the headteacher, said: “What a fantastic way to celebrate our breakfast club and the talents of these amazing children whilst raising funds to contribute alongside the Foundation team, whose the sponsors and parent volunteers make it all such a success - our breakfast club really does have talent!”
