Strictly your turn!
WE’VE seen the stars do it on the hit TV show Strictly – now it’s your turn. New dance sessions giving residents in Birkby a chance to dance in a series of monthly ballroom and Latin dance afternoons are set to start this week. The classes take place at Birkby Fartown Community Centre on Wasp Nest Road. They begin this Thursday and run each month through to September. Each dance takes place 1.30-3.30pm and costs just £2. Clr Judith Hughes said: “Increasing physical activity for older people is a priority for the council. The dances are fun and for beginners and more experienced dancers who wish to take a trip down memory lane or come along and try out the waltz, cha cha cha, quickstep or jive. There has been great interest from local people in these dances and we are expecting these to be very popular”. Places on all dances need to be booked in advance by calling the council’s Sport and Physical Activity Team on 01484 234092.
