A DANGEROUS sex offender was being hunted today after disappearing from a Wakefield hostel.
John McDermott, 45, was out of prison on parole licence, which was revoked as soon as he went missing.
He was last seen in Wakefield at 8am yesterday.
West Yorkshire Police say he is a "dangerous sex offender" who may "present a particular danger to young children".
Police say he should not be approached but anyone who spots him should ring 999.
He is 5ft 6in tall, weighs about 18 stone and has a shaved head and glasses.
He was wearing a green bomber jacket, black jogging bottoms, a black or orange T shirt and black and white trainers.
