A HUDDERSFIELD soldier has been practising his vehicle mechanic skills in Germany.

Craftsman Daniel Burden (left), 22, has been taking part in a major exercise pioneering a new way of supporting the Army on operations.

He has already been trained to repair and service large platform loading lorries, JCBs and Land Rovers.

"This exercise is by far the biggest one I have done," said Daniel, who is in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers regiment.

"I'm working in the field, without all the equipment that we have in the workshop, fixing things as best as I can. That's the challenge."

Daniel's parents, Andrew and Sarah, live in Almondbury.

Away from work, Daniel enjoys basketball and football.
