Communities need to help stop young people leaving the UK to travel to Syria.

David Cameron spoke out after hearing how two Dewsbury teenagers are thought to have fled to the war-torn country after travelling to Turkey on March 31.

The Conservative leader, speaking in Meltham, said: “Obviously we will do all we can to stop the young men, and sometimes young women, from travelling.

“There is a role for the police, our border forces, we’ve confiscated a lot of people’s passports... frankly this is something we need everyone to help, we need schools, colleges, universities, communities and families – everyone needs to join in this fight to stop the poisoning and radicalisation of young minds.”

Hassan Munshi and Talha Asmal, both 17 and from Dewsbury, are thought to have fled to the war-torn country after travelling to Turkey on March 31.
