A BUILDING has been reopened as a health centre after receiving a £500,000 refit.

The Pathway Day Services building now has a bistro cafe, new flooring and furniture, and is being used to help people with mental health problems.

The building, on Nettleton Road in Mirfield, had fallen into disrepair.

The former army drill hall is jointly managed by Kirklees council and South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust.

Clr Margaret Bates, Kirklees council cabinet member for adult services, said: “I’m delighted that the council has invested time and money into improving our day services for people with mental health problems.

“It’s very important that they are able to receive services in an environment that helps speed their recovery. I think the Pathway Day Service does this.”
