THE West Yorkshire Archive Service local history website is holding an open day on Wednesday.

The group from www.nowthen.org will be at Dewsbury Library from midday to 4pm.

Martin Wood, chief officer from West Yorkshire Joint Services, which oversees the archive service's work, said he wanted people to scour their attics for old photo albums and scrapbooks.

He added: "We will scan your local history contributions, just as long as they relate to areas on the NowThen historic maps.

"These include Dewsbury, Batley, Earlsheaton, Chickenley, Thornhill Lees, Heckmondwike, Ravensthorpe and anywhere in between."

People with material are advised to write up to 250 words to describe their resource and hand it in, along with their contact details, at Dewsbury Library.
