YOUNGSTERS are playing a deadly game if they mess around with lamp-posts, overhead power lines or electricity sub-stations.

Worried chiefs at power company CE Electric UK - which distributes electricity throughout Yorkshire - say signs mean what they say. If they are ignored it could bring tragedy.

Danger of Death signs can be found on electricity sub-stations, pylons and wooden poles carrying overhead wires.

Young people are killed or badly burned each year because they ignore the signs.

CE Electric UK spokeswoman Catherine Emsley said: " If a kite gets tangled in wires or a ball goes into a sub-station tell children to leave them alone.

"Contact us on the phone numbers on all sub-stations or in the phone book under E for electricity."
