A MAN, aged 26, who has admitted being responsible for the death of a couple on their wedding day is still on the run.

Damien Sylvester, 26, of Hopkinson Road, Brackenhall, had admitted causing the deaths of newly-weds Paul and Zoe Williams in a horrific car crash.

However, he failed to turn up for his sentence at Bradford Crown Court last Thursday.

The judge immediately issued a warrant for his arrest.

The new Mr and Mrs Williams, of Newsome Road, Newsome, had only been married for 12 hours when the car they were back seat passengers in crashed and burst into flames at the junction of the M1 and M62 in August last year.

Paul had three children from a previous relationship and Zoe had two.

Sylvester pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was due to be sentenced, but failed to show up when the case was called.

His barrister, John Elvidge, told the judge that Sylvester had been at court in the morning, but said he could offer no explanation as to why he had left.

Judge Rodney Grant issued a warrant for his arrest which is not backed by bail.

It means when he is arrested he will be kept in custody until a court appearance.
