A BRIDEGROOM who married at Kirkwood Hospice has died just a week after the wedding.
Garry Warner was terminally ill with lung cancer, but was looking forward to marrying his bride Jayne on Valentine’s Day in a romantic countryside setting.
But when his condition suddenly became worse, the wedding had to be brought forward and Kirkwood Hospice stepped in to host the event on Friday February 8.
Garry, 47, and Jayne, 39, wed in a decorated chapel area at the hospice in Dalton.
The Holmfirth couple had just a few days together before Garry died last Saturday with Jayne and his 15-year-old son Zac at his side.
Jayne said: “Garry died at 7.45am with Zac and me snuggled up next to him. It was a beautiful morning and if there can be ever such a thing as a beautiful death, it was Garry’s.’’
Garry’s funeral will be at Huddersfield Crematorium tomorrow at 11.20am.
Donations can be sent to Kirkwood Hospice instead of flowers, apart from family ones.
