A FORMER pupil of Greenhead High School, Huddersfield, has had her first book published.
Brenda Ackroyd, née Boothroyd, 63, went to the school between 1953 and 1960, before leaving for London University and a teaching career.
The mother-of-two, who has lived in Manchester for 30 years, has secured a deal with Christian publisher First Century, of Greenhead Road, Huddersfield.
Her book, a novel called Undiscovered Country, is about an imaginary afterlife. The story follows the adventures of seven new arrivals.
Mrs Ackroyd, who became a Catholic in 1990, said that when the publishing agreement arrived it was dated February 2 - her birthday.
She added: "I don't believe in coincidences any more. I think the Lord sent me an amazing birthday present."
Her book, ISBN 1-903930-54-5, is available by order from bookshops.
