A RAWTHORPE High teacher has been handed an award for her services to long- distance swimming.

Dee Llewellyn, 26, was awarded the James Brennan Trophy for her work with the British Long Distance Swimming Association.

Dee, pictured (left) being presented with the trophy by association president Gill Stables, joined the BLDSA at 15. By 21 she had organised a major lake swim contest.

Dee has also been responsible for the association's website and acted as publicity officer.

She is also an active swimmer and this season set an all-comers' record at an event at Loch Lomond.
