A teenager who sparked a major bomb alert in Elland has had his sentencing adjourned.
Dominic Barker was charged with firearm offences after police and bomb disposal experts were called to a factory unit in Elland last summer.
Barker, who is currently living in the Dumfries area of Scotland, appeared before Judge John Potter at Bradford Crown Court yesterday but his sentence hearing was put back because it was decided that the teenager needed to undergo a psychological assessment.
It is understood that the 19-year-old has admitted possessing a prohibited weapon, namely a revolver, and possessing ammunition in relation to the incident at the unit off Halifax Road on June 26.
The police investigation led to road closures and the temporary evacuation of the area as a precaution.
Barker’s barrister Stephen Wood said the psychological assessment “impacts upon the very heart of the case”.
Judge Potter stressed that he was not giving any indication as to the ultimate sentence in adjourning the case for the assessment.
“I appreciate that you’ve come today thinking the case is going to be dealt with and the case isn’t,” the judge told Barker.
“The reason is because the social work report raises some issues which require further clarification by way of a psychological assessment of you”.
The judge told Barker that he had to keep any appointments with the psychologist and that his sentencing would now take place on March 7.
