PEOPLE attending Huddersfield fire station’s open day tomorrow will have the chance to see a new fire engine.
The miniature fire engine (pictured) is used to promote community fire safety and will take children on trips round the fire station yard.
It’s been affectionately dubbed Little Dennis by firefighters.
Also at the open day – from 10am to 4pm – visitors will be able to see close-up how firefighters cut cars apart to free trapped casualties.
There will also be a chip pan fire display which shows the terrible dangers of using open chip pans.
There will be stalls, an aerial appliance demonstration, trampolines and face-painting.
All proceeds will go to the Fire Services’ National Benevolent Fund and the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust, which has planning permission to build a children’s hospice.
