Police are looking for a white man in his late 30s in connection with a raid on a village travel agency.

The man brandished a small kitchen knife at staff of the Thomas Cook travel agency in Slaithwaite at 9.10am on Thursday.

Staff, who had just opened the Kiln Hill branch for the day, were unhurt in the incident.

Police said he demanded cash but shocked staff were able to raise the alarm and the man fled empty handed.

Det Insp Stef Wiseman, of Kirklees CID, has now released a description of the man they’re looking for.

She said the culprit is in his late 30s to early 40s, around 5ft 10ins tall and of a plump build. He had stubble at the time of the incident.

He was wearing a black jacket, which was cut above the waist, and may have had a white glove on one hand.

Anyone who witnessed the attempted robbery should contact police on 101.
