METRO will again be funding bus services into Huddersfield and Leeds on Boxing Day.
Half-hourly services will run on December 26 between 9am and 6pm on more than 40 busy routes to and from the centre of Leeds and Huddersfield and to the White Rose Centre and Birstall Shopping Park.
There will be a flat fare of £4 (£2 half-fare) for travel all day and every adult will be able to take up to two children free of charge. MetroCards and free concessionary travel for older, young, disabled and blind people will apply.
Unaccompanied children should remember to carry either a Young Person’s PhotoCard (aged 11 to 16) or Scholar’s PhotoCard (aged 16 to 18).
Metro chairman Clr James Lewis said: “These Metro-funded Boxing Day bus services have grown in popularity since we introduced them in 2007.
“Over 50,000 people in West Yorkshire used them to travel to and from the increasing number of shops, restaurants and entertainment destinations that now open directly after Christmas, for hospital visits and to call on family and friends.”
As well as special Boxing Day timetable leaflets, Metro has produced a booklet with details of all the changes to bus and train services during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
