A developer looking to build in  Lindley has described it as the “ideal  spot”.

House-builder Taylor Wimpey are  due to submit a planning application for   land off Lindley Moor Road.

It will be a development of 31 homes  on fields at the junction of Lindley Moor  Road and Weatherhill Road.

The  Examiner reported   Clr Cahal  Burke’s concerns about the development, which he fears will add to the  burden on already over-subscribed  schools.

Andy Roberts, strategic land and  planning manager for Taylor Wimpey  Yorkshire, said  homes will include a mix  of detached and semi-detached designs.  The firm  has assured financial schemes  to assist eligible purchasers, including  the new Government-backed Help to  Buy initiative.

Asked why they picked Lindley,  Mr  Robert explained: “The site is unallocated white land and in the council’s  Unitary Development Plan.

“It is also within the urban designation for Huddersfield, making it an ideal  spot for us to build some much-needed  new homes. With the schemes we will be  bringing to the area as well, it will offer a  wider range of house-hunters the chance  to buy here.”

A planning application is expected to  be submitted later this month.
