TOWN fan Dave Sugden was hoping to end a week of heartache and torment at Lincoln today.

He followed his beloved Terriers to Sincil Bank for the play-off game - after travelling from his home in Torquay, where they are already celebrating promotion.

Dave, 49, who moved from Yorkshire to Devon 23 years ago, has had to suffer the good-natured taunts of his Toquay- supporting workmates all week - ever since the Gulls clinched promotion at Town's expense.

Dave was at Cheltenham to see Town's dream dip, but is now optimistic of a happy ending.

"I have always taken the rough with the smooth following Town.

"The Lincoln match is a `must win' for us to get through to the final in Cardiff, where I know we will have 30,000 fans following the team.

"I have held my head up in Torquay all week, sticking my neck out to say we will win the play-offs," said Dave.

"I just hope we can join Torquay in the Second Division next season," he added.
