HUDDERSFIELD people have been asked to follow the example of a celebrity chef and submit their favourite diabetic recipe.

Anthony Worrall Thompson is taking part in the appeal by charity Diabetes UK and Life- Scan, a developer of blood glucose monitors.

The chef has submitted the first recipe for a new diabetic cookbook - and has asked the public to follow suit.

For every recipe sent in, LifeScan will donate 50p to Diabetes UK. And the best ideas will be published in the new book.

Antony Worrall Thompson said: “Food is my life and I want to show that people with diabetes can eat delicious food and still maintain a healthy weight.

“The key is to follow a balanced diet, with plenty of fruits and vegetables, but also to realise that you can still enjoy a wide variety of foods as part of healthy eating. I hope people will enjoy my spiced cod dish as it is easy to prepare and full of flavour.”

Some 2.2 million people in the UK are living with diabetes and up to another 750,000 people remain undiagnosed. To share your favourite healthy recipe write to LifeScan Press Office, Haygarth House, 28-31 High Street, Wimbledon Village, SW19 5BY or email lifescanrecipes@hay garth.co.uk.
