A DIAMOND wedding couple are keeping their fingers crossed for a double celebration.

Agnes and Eric Ridsdale, of Dalton, pictured now and on their wedding day, celebrated 60 years of marriage on Thursday.

But if that wasn’t enough for the happy couple, they’re also expecting their first great-grandchild any time soon.

The pair travelled to Shepley for a family meal to celebrate.

Agnes and Eric first met at a dance and married at Holy Trinity Church in Trinity Street.

They have one son and two grandsons.

They are also caravan enthusiasts.

Agnes, who was 90 last month, said: “We’ve been caravanning for 50 years and we go with the whole family to the East Coast.”

Agnes said husband Eric was a football fanatic.

Eric, 88, supports Manchester United while his boys support Everton. Agnes said there’s always a lot of ‘banter’ between them.
