COLLEAGUES turned their work romance into a lifetime love affair.

Huddersfield couple Arthur and Jean Sweeting met when they both went to work at Longwood Co-operative.

Arthur was a butcher and Jean joined the firm as a drapery manageress.

More than 60 years on they are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.

Having married at Paddock Wesleyan Methodist Church in 1951 the couple continued to work together by launching their own butchers on Quarmby Road.

They went on to spend their entire careers working together before retiring in the early 1980s.

The Taylor Hill couple have two sons, one of whom lives in Australia, three granddaughters and one grandson.

The family have recently welcomed their first great-grandchild.

They are celebrating the landmark occasion with a number of low key family meals having had a big party for their golden wedding anniversary.
