POLICE investigating the death of a Shepley man in a road tragedy stopped 700 vehicles in a bid to trace witnesses.

Charity fundraiser Tony Robinson, 56, was killed when he was in collision with a car on Lane Head Road, Shepley, at 5.30pm last Wednesday.

Police yesterday stopped vehicles on that stretch of road between 5pm and 6pm and gave the drivers leaflets app- ealing for information.

In particular they want to speak to anyone who saw a red Rover and possibly a dark-coloured Rover being driven down Lane Head Road from the Sovereign crossroads just before the tragedy or the actual collision.

Two Almondbury men will appear before Bradford Crown Court on Monday in connection with the incident.

Ashley Anthony Patrice, 22, of Northgate, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of driving while disqualified and without insurance, failing to stop after an accident and perverting the course of justice.

Daniel Robinson, 20, of Eastlands, is charged with perverting the course of justice.
