A DOCTOR, accused of malpractice, appeared at the home of a patient shouting abuse, a tribunal heard yesterday.

David Ruddiman, a former patient of Dr Dev Dutt, told the court he had reported the former Fartown GP to Huddersfield Central PCT following an incident in 2002.

Dr Dutt, 66, denies malpractice on 11 patients between 1985 and 2005 at a General Medical Council (GMC) fitness to practice panel in Manchester.

Mr Ruddiman said Dr Dutt had banged on his door “ranting, raving and shouting” and calling Mrs Dutt a prostitute.

Dr Dutt, who ran Fartown Health Centre, Spaines Road, split from his wife in 1991. This was followed by an acrimonious divorce with Dr Dutt bringing several unsuccessful court cases against the Ruddimans.

The former GP is accused of breaching patient confidentiality by using Mr Ruddiman’s medical notes in a civil case against him in June 2004.

The panel also heard from a former nurse who worked for Dr Dutt.

The nurse, who does not wish to be named, said she could not remember the practice having registers and protocols for managing chronic illnesses when she began in 1998.

She said some records were out-of-date and Dr Dutt’s handwriting was hard to read.

Dr Dutt denies allegations of failing to keep adequate notes and other forms of misconduct.

Huddersfield Central Primary Care Trust barred Dr Dutt from his surgery in February, 2005. The GMC suspended his right to practice in October, 2005. The case continues.
