A pizza delivery man had to be cut out of his vehicle after a head-on collision with another car.

The man, in his 20s, was delivering pizzas for Domino’s in a Honda when he was involved in a collision with an oncoming Subaru in Elland Road, Brighouse at 7.40pm on Sunday.

The impact caused his car to leave the road and crash into a telegraph pole.

The man was trapped in the car and had to be cut free by fire crews from Rastrick and Halifax, who removed the passenger doors and roof.

He received treatment from paramedics until the fire officers were able to get him out on a flat board. Fire crews were at the scene for two hours.

The man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by ambulance. The extent of his injuries are not known.

The male driver of the Subaru removed himself from his vehicle and it is thought his injuries were less serious.

Later that night, at around 11.30pm, Rastrick Fire Brigade was called out to a series of bins on fire at Laverock Close, Brighouse.

The bins had been left on the pavement for collection and a someone had deliberately set several of them on fire. Residents alerted the police.
