A MAJOR politician will visit Huddersfield this week.

Conservative shadow foreign secretary William Hague will be in town on Friday.

He will answer public questions at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, from noon until 1pm.

Mr Hague, who led the Conservatives from 1997 to 2001, will hold a second session at Shelley Village Hall from 1.45pm to 2.45pm.

Kirklees Council leader Clr Robert Light is delighted that the Richmond MP is visiting.

He said: “William Hague is no stranger to these parts and is widely known as a terrific speaker.

“We hope the question and answer sessions will be very lively, and they will offer local residents the chance to get a forthright Yorkshire answer to any question they may wish to throw his way.”
