A MAN was attacked twice in one day in Almondbury.

In the second attack, a vicious assault in Southfield Road, the 48-year- old suffered a broken arm and severe facial injuries.

The second attack happened at about 1.15pm on Monday.

Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the incident.

But they are keen to trace another 18-year-old and other members of a gang who saw the incident.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Huddersfield CID, said today:

"This was a vicious attack on a 48-year-old man.

"He was punched in the face and also sustained a broken arm during the assault."

The man, who lives in Almondbury, was walking in Southfield Road when he saw a group of men.

He crossed the road to avoid them, but two men followed him and threatened him.

One of the men pulled a piece of wood from a fence.

During the attack the victim was punched in the face.

His right arm was broken and he sustained severe bruising and cuts on his face.

The man was treated at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. Police have few details about the first attack.
