MARSDEN Mechanics Hall will see its first double wedding on Saturday when siblings Ryan and Sherry Taylor wed their partners in a joint ceremony.

On that day Sherry, 27, will marry her fiance of three years, 28-year-old James Castle, while brother Ryan, 23, will tie the knot with 20-year-old Kerry Connor.

The double wedding was Sherry’s idea.

She said: “James and I have been engaged for a few years, but had not got round to getting married, as it is so expensive.

“Ryan and Kerry said they wanted to get married this year, so it gave us a push and I suggested doing it together.”

Sherry and James live in Slaithwaite with their 18-month-old daughter Laila, who will be a bridesmaid.

Ryan and Kerry live together in Milnsbridge.

The couples chose Marsden Mechanics as the venue because Sherry and Ryan’s parents, Shelagh and Danny, and siblings Kieran, 25, and 16-year-old Kayley, live in the village.

With two brides and two grooms inviting friends and relatives the wedding will boast a large guest list. About 150 people will attend the party after the civil ceremony.

Sherry said: “There are quite a lot of people coming. It will be a big family affair. My parents are pleased that we are having a double wedding, because it is a nice family occasion.”

After the wedding both couples will be jetting off on their honeymoons – but not together!

Ryan and Kerry will spend a long weekend in Prague while Sherry and James plan to spend several days in Rome.
