HUDDERSFIELD is in the spotlight tonight - on two separate TV shows.

The BBC's Look North will run a feature on the Castle Hill hotel saga.

And a fly-on-the-wall documentary is looking at what is going on behind the scenes at Kirklees Council.

A film crew visited Castle Hill to ask people what they thought should happen to the site and their memories of the old pub.

Former architect Albert Booth, of Waterloo, was one of those interviewed.

He said: "I would like to see it returned to how it was with a hostelry."

"As an architect I followed the story very closely."

Deputy council leader Clr John Smithson and Examiner reporter Richard Porritt also gave their views, but developers the Thandi Partnership are believed to have refused an interview.

The Castle Hill feature is expected to be on tonight's show at 6.30pm on BBC1.

The documentary on Kirklees Council, a three-part ITV1 documentary series, goes out tonight and on the next two Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm.

Film crews looked at many aspects of council life.
