TWO of Huddersfield’s best-known entrepreneurs are guest speakers at a charity lunch.

And one of them – pharmaceutical giant Graham Leslie – knows he will be the butt of a few jokes at the George Hotel event.

For the lunch on Thursday, April 30, is in aid of The Laura Crane Trust and the Dewsbury Diabetic Appeal – the two chosen charities of current Kirklees Mayor Karam Hussain.

One of the highlights of the event will be a rare screening of a fun DVD filmed by Laura Crane Trust patron, comedienne Catherine Tate, and Dr Who David Tennant in a special sketch poking fun at Mr Leslie.

The three-course luncheon is £25 per person and its aim is to boost the two charities in these tough economic times.

The Laura Crane Trust recently launched an appeal for people – especially businesses – to use £10 and see how much they could raise for the charity just from that. It could be they buy and sell stuff on ebay or use the £10 to fund another cash-spinning idea.

Anyone who has taken up this challenge needs to let the Trust know they are doing it.

Those that have raised a large amount or come up with innovative ideas will be revealed at the luncheon.

Mr Davy is chairman of Huddersfield-based financial services training and support company SimplyBiz PLC and is president of the Life Insurance Association.

He is also chairman of Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Club, Huddersfield Town AFC and Huddersfield Sporting Pride.

Mr Leslie is ex-chairman of Huddersfield Town AFC, founder chairman ofŠKirklees Stadium Development Limited and chairman of Galpharm International Limited.

His company is the current stadium sponsor.

They will be introduced by Andrew Hirst, Head Of Content at the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

There will be a chance for people to ask the speakers questions.

The lunch from noon to 2pm is £25 per person and tickets can be bought from the Laura Crane Trust 01484 510013 or email sarah@lauracranetrust.org
