COUNCIL staff are hoping to improve sports pitches at Dalton’s DRAM Centre.

They are looking at plans to improve the drainage to help both the local community and Huddersfield Giants.

The Super League players could use the facilities for training if the pitches were improved.

Now councillors are being urged to back a £55,000 scheme to carry out the work.

It would see new drains on the rugby pitch, soccer pitch, junior pitch and games area at the centre.

The facilities are used by local groups including Dalton Crusaders FC and Moldgreen Rugby League Club.

It is expected that the work will take place at the end of the playing season.
