BUS passengers watched in horror as a single-decker coach ploughed into scaffolding at Huddersfield bus station yesterday.

The Yorkshire Traction vehicle struck the scaffolding at about 11.30am as it entered the bay to pick up travellers.

The windscreen was smashed and the front of the bus damaged.

Shocked workmen spent part of the afternoon repairing the buckled scaffold.

Witnesses said nobody was injured although the bus driver appeared shaken.

No-one was available to comment at Yorkshire Traction.
