A DRIVER arrested in connection with a crash which killed a Huddersfield man has had his bail extended.

Graham Whitwam, 53, was flung from a car transporter when it was clipped by a Ford Transit van and overturned on the M6.

Police said the dead man’s wife was also hurt, having been trapped in the wreckage of the transporter.

A 46-year-old man from Warwickshire was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident. He was released on bail which ran out on Monday, and has now been extended until February 2.

A stretch of the busy motorway close to junction 35 Carnforth was closed for 11 hours following the crash at 6am on September 15.
