A driver abandoned a car that had rolled down an embankment - with a passenger inside it.

An 18-year-old girl was taken to hospital following the incident at Valley Road in Cleckheaton at 9.45am yesterday.

Firefighters from the town’s station were called as the girl was suffering neck and leg pain and was unable to get out of the car and she needed medical treatment, so they had to cut the roof off the Vauxhall Astra vehicle.

Prior to the car rolling down an embankment, it had hit a stone wall, a house and a parked car.

The driver fled the scene and police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101.
