A man was taken to hospital by air ambulance after a serious crash in Honley.

The incident on Station Road, close to Honley High School, closed the route for several hours.

No other vehicles were involved in the smash which happened at 3.15pm on Saturday.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance takes off from the scene of the crash in Honley.

It is thought the driver lost control on a bend but the exact circumstances of the accident have not been released by police.

Officers also closed Northgate to allow the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to land and to complete their investigation into what happened.

The victim was flown to Leeds General Infirmary suffering with serious injuries.

Last night his condition was still thought to be serious, with doctors keeping him heavily sedated.
