A MAN has been killed in a motorway crash.
The 40-year-old father from Huddersfield died when his car is thought to have been hit from behind by a lorry carrying meat on the M62 near Hartshead Moor service station shortly after 11 last night.
The man's green Fiat Cinquecento may have broken down on the westbound carriageway just after junction 26 at Chain Bar.
The car was crushed beneath the cab and both vehicles burst into flames.
The lorry driver - a 41-year-old man from Wakefield - escaped unhurt. He was arrested.
The car driver was trapped and died at the scene.
Police have today appealed for witnesses.
Insp Diane Booth, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "
The identity of the deceased is not yet available."
The westbound carriageway was closed for five hours and part of the road has had to be resurfaced.
