Driver runs off after head on smash with milk van in Shepley

The accident occurred at 1.35am this morning at the Sovereign Crossroads

The hunt is on for a driver who fled the scene of a crash in the early hours.

According to Kirklees Rural police, a local milkman in his van was “hit head on” by a Salford Van Hire vehicle at 1.35am today at the Sovereign crossroads in Shepley.

Officers who attended the scene said that the hire van driver ran off after the collision, “leaving the passenger of the milk van still trapped.”

The passenger was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for a check up, but is thought to have suffered only minor injuries.

Now police are trying to trace the driver and have launched an investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash should call the police on 101.
