MOTORISTS in the Holme Valley face a variety of road works in the new year.

There will be a number of temporary road closures for schemes being carried out next month.

Kirklees Council's highways services will be repairing patches of the road surface in Little Lane, Upper- thong, from January 5 to 8, along the stretch from Upperthong Lane to Greenfield Road.

Yorkshire Water Services Ltd will be working from 11 to 15, Old Road, Hinchcliffe Mill, for two weeks starting on January 5.

And the company will be doing similar work for eight weeks in Co-op Lane, Hinchcliffe Mill.

Yorkshire Water will be working to alleviate a flooding problem in Thirstin Road, Honley, for three weeks starting on January 19.

And Kirklees Council's highways department will be rebuilding its speed humps in Westgate and Eastgate, Honley, over four Sundays - January 11, 18 and 25 and February 1.
