Driving instructors Pete Tiernan and Nigel Deans are launching a fundraising rally for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Last year the friends took part in a banger rally for the hospice but this year they have organised their own driving trip with a sporting theme.

The 1,200-mile Forget Me Not Stadium Trip will take place over four days and three nights starting on September 29.

The rally, which will start and finish in Huddersfield, will take in five national stadia – Wembley, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, the Lansdowne Road Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Belfast’s Windsor Park and Hampden Park in Glasgow.

Pete and Nigel, who run Huddersfield Driving Experience and their own driving schools, are urging anyone wanting to join them to sign up.

The duo want to raise at least £10,000 for the Brackenhall-based hospice and Pete said: “It should be a great experience.

“It’s five stadia, four days, three nights, two ferries but just one aim – to raise as much as possible for the hospice.”

It’s two people per car but any vehicle can take part. The entry fee is £600 and at least £1,500 in sponsorship must be raised by each car.

Last year’s Bangers and Class rally raised £13,000 as teams visited motor racing circuits across Europe.

Pete said all the overnight stays and transfers would be arranged and it wasn’t a race.

“It’s all about getting from A to B and seeing all these great stadia,” he said. “We could have chosen the more familiar routes, such as John O’Groats to Land’s End, but decided that visiting all the international stadia was unusual and different.”
