PEOPLE working with drug addicts have been honoured by the Mayor of Kirklees.

Clr Jean Calvert presented them with National Vocational Qualifications at the George Hotel in Huddersfield yesterday.

The 14 people from the Kirklees Drug Action Team, West Yorkshire Police, Lifeline Kirklees and Kirklees User Forum have qualified to work with addicts.

Kirklees Council’s Cabinet member for safer and stronger communities Clr Khizar Iqbal stressed the importance of the qualifications. He said: “Tackling and reducing substance misuse is essential to making our communities safer. Ensuring staff are qualified to a high standard improves the service on offer.”
