MUSICIANS taking part in drumming sessions in Huddersfield are feeling less stressed, gaining more confidence and have even been given a sense of purpose, a report says.
Glowing comments by members of HooT have appeared in the report by the music group.
Set up in May 2002, HooT is based at St Thomas's Church Hall, Manchester Road, Longroyd Bridge.
The scheme helps those experiencing mental distress express themselves through music.
Ninety-six per cent of people who go to the sessions have been diagnosed as having a mental health problem.
In the report, 84% felt more confident and less stressed and half found more sense of purpose.
A quarter reported improved sleep patterns.
Overall, there are about 160 participants in the HooT scheme. Around 13 go to the HumDrum sessions each week.
